Sounds like they're using that 3.6L Pentastar engine for the generator. That engine has tons of low-end power – it makes most of its power way down low in the RPMs. I remember something like 90% of its torque is available at really low revs. Since it's designed for efficiency at lower RPMs, it should be perfect for this kind of setup.
