I recently had the opportunity to test drive the Ram 1500 SST and was blown away by its power output. I can feel the torque pushing the truck, and I have a couple of questions about it.

I noticed a small 12-volt battery behind the main battery. Does anyone know what it's for?

The SST has a second cooling system for the turbochargers and intercoolers. Can anyone tell me more about it? Why do they use liquid instead of air to cool the compressed air from the turbochargers? I couldn't find the cooler.

Looks like that 12V battery is probably part of the ESS system, like in non-Etorque Jeeps. Jeep owners often run into issues with these batteries due to their quirky charging, leading many to just bypass them since they’re in a tough spot. But Ram truck owners are in luck - the batteries are way easier to access!

And how cool is it that they use a smaller secondary cooling system for the turbos after shutdown? The main radiator holds a lot of heat, so using a bit of fluid helps cool the turbo bearings down faster. Smart move!
