We just lifted my truck and got it all aligned, but now I'm stuck with a disabled Forward Collision Warning (AEB) and a nagging yellow light. Thinking it has something to do with the sensor behind the rearview mirror (not the bumper sensors). While I'm not a huge fan of the system itself, I don't exactly want a giant warning light on my dash either.

Anyone else out there worked on the sensor angle after a lift? Found a post mentioning an adjustment screw under the mounting screw, but wanted to see if anyone can confirm. Also, how do you even pop off that plastic cover?

It's kept secure with 4 clips. To remove it, use a trim removal tool, particularly one with a half-moon shape. These tools can fit into those tight spaces and gently pry the cover off without causing scratches. Don't worry about removing the weird round piece above the mirror first.

I’ve heard of a few people having sensor issues after getting a lift. The adjustment screw sounds like it could be the solution, but I’d still recommend checking in with the shop that did your alignment just to be sure everything’s in place. Better safe than sorry!

the plastic cover, those can usually be popped off pretty easily with a trim tool. Just make sure to go slow and apply gentle pressure so you don’t end up cracking it. those things can be surprisingly fragile. If you don't have a trim tool, even something like a plastic spatula could work in a pinch. 😅

I’ve heard from a few folks who have had sensor issues after getting a lift, so you’re definitely not alone in this. The adjustment screw you mentioned sounds like it could be part of the solution, but I’d still recommend checking with the shop that did the alignment just to get their take on it. They might have some insights or recommendations that could help. 🙏

As for the plastic cover, it usually pops off pretty easily with a trim tool, so just take your time with it. Gently prying it off will help avoid any cracks or breaks, those plastic pieces can be surprisingly fragile! If you don’t have a trim tool, even a plastic spatula can work in a pinch.

Oh man, dealing with warning lights after a lift is the worst, right? I’ve heard about that adjustment screw under the mounting screw too—might be your ticket to getting rid of that warning light! I’m not a huge fan of the AEB system either, but I totally get not wanting a constant yellow light on the dash. For the plastic cover, I used a trim tool to pop mine off without cracking anything. Fingers crossed that a quick sensor adjustment does the trick for you!

Lifting the truck likely threw off the sensor calibration for the Forward Collision Warning system. just a guess. The sensor behind the rearview mirror is sensitive to changes in height and angle, so adjusting it might solve your issue. The adjustment screw is indeed under the mounting bracket, and you’ll need to get the sensor back to the correct angle to remove the warning. Use a trim removal tool to gently pop off the plastic cover, most of these covers are held in place with clips that can be fragile. It might take a bit of trial and error to get it aligned, but that should clear the warning light!
