I've got this 2020 Ram 1500 Limited and it's clocked around 80k miles now. I remember hearing you're supposed to change the tranny fluid at 60k miles, but I'm way past that now, like over 20k miles overdue. Is it still cool to go ahead and change it at this point?

better late than never! Changing the tranny fluid at 80k miles is still a good move, even if it’s a bit overdue. Just make sure to have it done by a shop that knows RAMs well, and they can check for any issues while they’re at it. Shouldn’t be a problem. go for it! 👌

No worries! I’ve actually done the same thing before on my RAM. I missed my 60k mile mark and ended up changing it at around 85k. As long as your transmission hasn’t been acting up, you should be fine doing it now. I’d definitely recommend going to a reputable shop and maybe asking them to check for any potential signs of wear, just to be safe. It’s always a good idea to stay on top of it from here on out, but 80k isn’t too late at all. You’ll probably feel a nice improvement in the shifting once you get it done, too!

You’re definitely not alone in missing that 60k mark! Tons of people do, and honestly, 80k is still fine to go ahead and get it done. A lot of shops will tell you it’s better to change it late than to skip it altogether. Just make sure you go to a place that knows RAMs well and maybe ask them to check for any signs of wear just in case. You’ll feel better once it’s done, and your truck will thank you for it!

it’s totally fine to do it now, even at 80k miles. The recommendation for 60k miles is there to help prevent wear over time, but going a bit beyond that isn’t going to be a huge issue if your transmission’s been running smoothly so far. I’d say go ahead with the change and maybe ask your shop to take a look at the fluid they drain for any signs of excessive wear or metal shavings, just to be on the safe side. And if everything looks good, you’ll be set for a smoother ride and less wear on the system moving forward. Regular changes from here on out will help keep it running strong! 👍
