Has anyone else been getting a weird coolant smell in their Ram 1500? I've started to smell it recently and it’s got me a bit worried. Any clue what might be causing it or if it's something serious? I'm hoping its just a minor issue, but I'm not taking any chances. Is there an easy fix for this?

For the past few months, I’ve been dealing with this funky smell in my car. At first, the dealership casually mentioned it was just ‘’working as designed,’’ one of those fancy terms they like to throw around. But I’m pretty convinced the real culprit is a loose cap on the overflow tank, letting vapor escape and create this mess. Definitely time to sort it out!

I’ve read a few cases where Ram owners mentioned coolant smells without any visible leaks, sometimes just from the overflow venting vapor. Could be worth checking the radiator cap seal or the water pump area for any residue. Have you noticed any coolant level drop, or is it just the smell?

That’s a red flag for sure, my bro’s been through that! A coolant smell isn’t something to ignore it could be a small leak, hose issue, or even a loose cap. Hopefully it’s just a minor fix but better safe than sorry! Check the coolant level and look for any leaks. My brother actually replaced a loose cap once. If it keeps happening a trip to the mechanic might save you from a bigger headache later
