I recently got my truck hailed on and need a new roof. I was looking into adding an aftermarket panoramic roof, but I've seen a lot of horror stories about people chopping up their roofs.

My estimate lists a "roof panel w/o panoramic" so I'm wondering if it would be possible to just swap it out for a panoramic roof since they're already replacing it. I think the only things that would need to change are the switches and the headliner.

Does this sound feasible? Any advice would be appreciated!

I’d definitely be cautious about adding an aftermarket panoramic roof. Mostly curious about when it comes to structural integrity. Trucks like the Ram 1500REV are built with specific designs in mind, and chopping up the roof could lead to more issues down the line, like leaks or decreased safety in case of a rollover. 😵

I’d recommend sticking with the OEM roof unless you can find a professional shop with a great track record for these kinds of modifications. It’s tempting, but the potential headaches might outweigh the cool factor. 😔

Yeah, I can totally see the appeal of adding a panoramic roof, especially since you’re already replacing it. That said, the horror stories about leaks or rattling do make me nervous. I'm not a DIY kind of person anyway. 😅

If you’re set on it, I’d suggest finding a shop that specializes in high-end modifications and has experience with panoramic roof installs. Better have a pro-detailer on that. it could really elevate your ride, but definitely go with a pro who knows the specifics of your truck’s structure. 😎

this mod is not impossible, my biggest concern is finding someone skilled enough to do it without compromising the roof’s strength or causing long-term issues. You know, leaks, and possible rust due to that leak. 😖

The fact that you’re already getting the roof replaced could work in your favor. I'd double-check with the body shop first. They might need to reinforce some areas to ensure safety. And yeah, the switches and headliner would likely need an upgrade, but I’d prioritize a clean, professional install over anything else. 🙏

Honestly, while the idea is tempting, I’d be wary of going down this route. 😖 Adding a panoramic roof to a truck that wasn’t designed for it could open up a can of worms—like leaks, electrical issues with the switches, or even structural problems.

Given that they’re already replacing the roof panel, maybe ask your dealership or body shop if it’s possible to swap it with an OEM panoramic version, if that exists for your model. 🤔That way, you get peace of mind knowing it’s done right without risking aftermarket headaches.
