A U0140 code that indicates a breakdown in communication between the ABS module and the BCM is the annoying problem I'm having with my car. I've already attempted a number of troubleshooting techniques, such as:

BCM connector inspection and cleaning
Looking over the BCM board
Fuse box replacement
Changing the ABS pump module
Keeping ground connections clean
Trying to use diagnostic tools to clear the code

I'm still seeing the "service electronic stability control" message and the traction control light is still on in spite of everything.

I'm beginning to believe that there may be a CAN bus problem. Does anyone know anything about this particular code or issues like it? I would be very grateful for any advice on how to identify or resolve the CAN communication problem.

Additionally, I'm searching for a Witech diagram or any information regarding the ABS and BCM's CAN bus communication.

First thing I'd try is disconnecting the battery for about 20 minutes. This sometimes clears the codes, so see if that helps. If the code comes back, it could be a few different things.

I'd start with the easy stuff:
  • Check all the connections: Make sure everything is securely plugged in.
  • Inspect the wiring: Look for any damage, broken wires, or loose connections.
  • Check the ground: Make sure the ground wire is clean and tight.
If you can't find anything wrong there, it might be a problem with the Body Control Module (BCM). You could try finding a used BCM at a salvage yard, but I'm not sure if they're interchangeable. You might need to have it programmed at the dealership, which could get expensive.
