Stellantis announced Wednesday that it will delay the all-electric Ram pickup until 2026 due to slower-than-expected EV adoption and challenges in the electric truck market. Instead, the company will prioritize the Ramcharger, an electric range-extended model with a gas engine, due to strong consumer interest. The Ramcharger will open for orders in 2025, followed by the electric Ram 1500 REV in 2026. This shift follows a management change and sales struggles, including a 24% decline through Q3. The Ramcharger is expected to offer up to 690 miles of range, with a mix of electric and gas power.

Stellantis focusing on the Ramcharger makes sense, but pushing the full EV to 2026? That’s a risky move, they might end up playing catch-up. Hopefully, the range-extender gamble pays off!

It’s definitely a risky move, but I can see why they’re prioritizing the Ramcharger for now. They’ll need something to compete with the likes of Ford and Rivian in the meantime. Let’s see if the extended range can win people over!
