I came across an exciting development: Stellantis has patented a technology to enhance low-power DC fast charging. (Read more here: Future Stellantis EVs might flex 800V at 400V Superchargers.)

I think this is fantastic, so I will advice you hurry up and get those trucks on the road! It might even lead to cheaper home chargers. But how will it impact bidirectional charging for using the RAM as a generator during power outages?

The reception is pretty mixed. A lot of folks are calling it a clever workaround especially for Tesla Superchargers which is a big deal. People like the idea of getting faster charge times from existing lower voltage chargers. There's some concern about added complexity and potential reliability issues with the extra switches and capacitors but most are willing to give it a chance. Boosting charge rates without a total infrastructure overhaul is appealing. But bigger chuck of opinion see it as a smart move to make 800V EVs more practical in the current charging landscape even if it's a bit of a hack.
