Changing spark plugs on my Rebel for the first time (2023 model) and noticed something weird. It looks like corrosion around the spark plugs, but the bike is barely two years old! Anyone ever seen this before? Seems awfully early for such wear. Should I be worried, or is this normal for Rebels?

That does sound unusual . 🤔 Corrosion around the spark plugs can happen, but it’s typically more common in older vehicles or those exposed to harsh conditions like moisture or salt. First thing I'd do is check for any moisture buildup around the plugs or if the gasket/seal is compromised. You might want to clean the corrosion off, but if it comes back quickly, there could be a bigger issue, like a coolant leak or poor seal integrity. Definitely worth keeping an eye on, might even be a good idea to have the dealership take a look under warranty if it’s still covered.

That seems pretty early for corrosion on spark plugs, especially on a 2023 model. I’d take a close look to see if there’s any moisture getting into the engine bay or around the plug seals. If the corrosion is light, you can clean it up with a wire brush or some anti-corrosion spray, but if it’s heavy or keeps coming back, there might be a bigger issue. I’d also check with the dealership since it’s so new, you might still be under warranty, and they could replace it for you if it’s an actual defect. Better to be safe than sorry! 😖

Man, that sounds annoying, especially on such a new truck! I haven’t run into that with my Rebel yet, but I’d be a little concerned if I saw corrosion this early. Might just be from environmental factors, like if you live somewhere with a lot of moisture or road salt—but still, worth getting checked out.

I’d hit up the dealer if you're still under warranty and see what they say. Could be nothing, but it doesn’t hurt to ask them to look it over!

definitely strange for a truck that’s only two years old! I haven’t changed the spark plugs on my 2023 Rebel yet, but I’d be worried too if I saw corrosion already. Maybe it’s just the environment where you drive? I’d probably clean it off and keep an eye on it, but if it comes back or if it’s bad, I’d say have a pro check it out.

Could be something simple, but better safe than sorry! Get it checked in a shop.
