Earlier today, I noticed for the first time a grinding sound/feeling coming from the rear end during low speed take-off and turning either right or left. It does NOT happen when taking off in a straight line. It feels like traction control kicking in and sounds like that too from inside the truck. There is a noise on the outside when it happens too. Again, sounds like traction control or ABS on the outside. I can also feel it in the floor of the truck when it happens. There are no warning lights on. I would just take it to a dealer, but I'm pretty far away from home on vacation.

I have about 19k miles on it. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Anyone have any ideas what it might be?

I think it's your LSD. Much better if you'd take it to your dealer and let them listen to it so that they can give proper advice on what to do.

It definitely sounds like that could be concerning, especially since it only happens during low-speed turns. I had a similar issue with my truck a while back; it turned out to be a loose heat shield that was causing vibrations. it might be tough to get it checked while you’re on vacation, but if the sound continues, I recommend stopping by a shop if possible. They might be able to take a quick look and troubleshoot stuff. BUT If you can't get it checked, keeping an ear out for any changes in the sound could help your dealer diagnose the problem easily when you return. 👍

uhhh that grinding sound sounds pretty annoying, especially when you’re trying to enjoy your vacation! I’ve had a similar experience with my Ram, and it turned out to be an issue with the rear differential. It’s good that there are no warning lights, but it might be worth checking your fluid levels if you can. I remember when I was on a trip and started hearing some strange noises. if it gets louder, it gets worse. I ended up finding a mechanic who was able to take a quick look, and it was a simple fix. try to find a shop nearby just to ease your mind. 😓

strange noises can be really unsettling, especially when you’re away from home! I had a grinding sound in my truck a while back, and it turned out to be related to the brakes. Since you mentioned it only happens during turns, it might be worth checking the brake components and the differential fluid. If you can’t get to a dealer right now, maybe check some online forums or local mechanics who specialize in trucks. They might be able to help without you having to drive too far. Keep us updated on what you find; I hope it’s nothing serious and you can get back to enjoying your vacation! 🤞

I totally feel for you, dealing with a grinding sound while on vacation can be such a buzzkill! It’s even worse when it only happens during certain driving conditions, so you're totally clueless on the reason. I had a scare last summer on a road trip when my truck started making weird noises. I was convinced something serious was wrong, and it turned out to be a loose exhaust bracket! 😖

take a peek at your vehicle's manual for any troubleshooting tips. And don’t hesitate to pop into a shop if you’re really worried, sometimes a second opinion can ease your mind. Hopefully, it’s just a minor issue that can be sorted out quickly. But hey, don’t let it ruin your getaway! Enjoy your time away, Safe travels!
