I did an oil change on my 2022 Ram 1500, and now it wouldn’t start, it just turned over like it wasn’t getting fuel. The dealership said a floor mat pressing the accelerator triggered "Compression Mode," and it is costing me $300 to resolve. Has anyone else dealt with this, and is there a way to fix it without towing?

I decided to try disconnecting the battery, and after leaving it off for about 15 minutes, I reconnected it and turned the key. That did the trick! The engine started without any issues. I was able to drive it over to the dealership for a more thorough check, and they confirmed everything was back to normal. It looks like resetting the system worked. If anyone’s having a similar issue, I’d definitely recommend giving that a try before going for the towing option.

There was a recall in 2020 for the gas pedal and floor mats on the '19 and '20 Rams (NHTSA). Yours is a '22, so the gas pedal itself is probably fine, but you might have the same floor mats they recalled. Probably worth checking them out, just in case!
