With 96,000 miles on my RAM 1500 Laramie, it’s time to swap out the brakes. I’m torn between sticking with stock or going aftermarket—any suggestions? Recently, I tried PowerStop slotted/drilled rotors with matching pads on my Grand Cherokee. They seemed promising, but the noise was unbearable. Constant clicking from the holes and slots, so loud I tore down the front brakes twice thinking something was wrong. I’m looking for recommendations for my RAM 1500 that don’t come with that kind of headache...

It sounds like the drilled rotors caused unnecessary noise on your Grand Cherokee. For your RAM 1500, stick with slotted rotors, they provide good performance without the clicking sounds. You should also consider quality heavy-duty pads to avoid rotor replacement.

Whoa, 96k miles? Sounds like you got some solid use out of those brakes! I’ve heard good things about sticking with OEM for trucks like the RAM 1500. Did you find the stock setup worked well for you before?

Yeah, they’ve lasted a while....the stock setup worked fine before, but I’m just looking for something with better performance without the noise or hassle.

Stock might be the safe bet, but if you’re after some aftermarket action, maybe steer clear of anything that sounds like a drum solo! Look for solid rotors and quieter pads something that'll keep your RAM stopping smoothly without turning your ride into a concert. Hopefully you can find the sweet spot
