I'd like to add a second camera to monitor my gooseneck hitch.

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this kind of setup. I'm specifically looking for guidance on how to connect the second camera and whether it's possible to either install a switch to manually select the camera view or program the Uconnect system to automatically switch between the two.

I’ve seen some setups where people add a second camera and wire it into the Uconnect system. You might need an AV input switcher or an interface module that allows for multiple camera feeds to be routed through the factory display. Companies like Nav-TV or Infotainment might have what you need. If you’re comfortable doing some custom wiring, you could program it to automatically switch views when backing up or towing.

You can do everything you want. If you want the automatic switch, I think it depends on the camera you have. What camera do you have?

Some aftermarket camera kits come with integration modules that are designed to work with factory systems like Uconnect. These kits can make the wiring a lot easier and let you hook up a second camera to the system without too much hassle.

@HubertDWHT I'm interested to know how this is done. I've been thinking of setting up second camera too. Bit yeah, some aftermarkets might be fully install-ready coz they;ve used it before. I'll check eBay.

You might want to check Infotainment YouTube video. I hope this helps!

If you’re not worried about factory integration, the easiest route is adding a wireless hitch camera with its own display, no need to mess with Uconnect at all. But if you want to use the factory screen, you’ll need an input switcher to toggle between views. Some of these connect directly to the existing harness, while others require a bypass module. Either way, make sure your second camera is rated for outdoor use and trailer movement.
