My dad just threw a 180-degree thermostat in his Ram and ditched most of the shutters. Now that engine's chillin' at 185 degrees, even with the AC blasting!

I'm wondering if there's a way to tweak the fan to kick on at a lower temp without dropping a fortune on a tuner.

Anyone been through this before?

Funny how I had almost exact drama with my old truck. I swapped in a lower temp thermostat, and the engine ran cooler, but I also wanted the fan to kick in earlier. Instead of getting a tuner, I used a manual fan switch. It was a cheap fix, and I could control the fan when needed. It might be worth a try if you’re looking for an affordable solution, if not, dealer all the way.

I wonder why he wanted to make those mods. Isn't the fan supposed to activate with the AC to cool the condenser?
