Hey folks, I’m curious - do you think the Ramcharger would’ve been better off as a plug-in hybrid instead of going with a range extender? I gotta say, I’m pretty surprised they chose the range-extender route for a new model. What are your thoughts? Agree? Disagree?

Honestly, I’m all about either a pure electric ride like the RamEV or a classic gas guzzler. Hybrids? Nah, they just seem like a bunch of extra hassle I’d rather skip.

Interesting question! Personally, I think the range extender makes sense since it keeps the electric-only drive focus. It adds a safety net without going full hybrid. A plug-in hybrid could work, but I like that they’re going all-in on the EV side with the Ramcharger!

I think there are pros and cons to both approaches. A plug-in hybrid would give it more flexibility and potentially make it easier for folks used to gas engines to transition. But I also get why they went with a range extender, keeping it closer to a full EV experience while having a backup if you’re out of range. Plus, a range extender is a bit lighter than adding a full hybrid system, which could help with performance. it’s an interesting decision, I’m curious to see how it plays out! 😍

I actually like the range extender idea! It feels like a good middle ground between committing to electric and having some peace of mind on longer trips. Plug-in hybrids are great too, but they tend to lean more toward the gas side, so the range extender option keeps the focus on electric driving, which is the future anyway. Ram’s trying something new, and it’ll be interesting to see if it catches on with the truck crowd. Still that is a valid idea.

You know, I’ve been thinking about this too! Plug-in hybrid could’ve been cool, but then it might just feel like a traditional gas truck with a small electric boost. I think they went with a range extender to really highlight the electric powertrain while offering a safety net. Plus, going range extender keeps it simpler for those of us hoping to avoid gas as much as possible. A hybrid might have worked, but I get the sense Ram wants the Ramcharger to be a solid step into EV territory with minimal gas reliance. Can’t wait to see how it performs! 😁
