A/C Acting Up

So my AC went haywire yesterday. It won’t chill out when I’m stopped or idling. It’s barely cool, just blowing some cold air and it only gets really cold once I start driving. It was working fine until then. We drove for like 6 hours coming back from vacation, stopped for dinner, and when I started up again, the AC wouldn’t get cold. It’s cool enough while driving but gets warm when I stop at a light. Anyone else had this happen? Think it might be a Freon issue?

Hey! This sounds like it could be low Freon. When the level’s low, the A/C often struggles at idle but works better when you’re moving and the system has more airflow. I’d suggest checking the Freon levels first. If they’re low, a top-off could fix it up quickly. Hope that helps!

I’ve had something similar happen, and it turned out to be a Freon issue, just like you’re thinking! When the Freon’s low, the A/C compressor struggles to cool air when idling, but it can push colder air while driving because the airflow helps cool it down more. Yikes, that sounds like a headache, especially after a long drive! My A/C went a bit haywire like that last summer, and it was low on Freon. Apparently, when the Freon level dips, the compressor doesn’t have enough pressure at idle to cool the air, but when you’re driving, it can get by thanks to airflow.
